Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu, a tertiary care hospital in Jammu division of J&K (Union Territory) was started in the year, 1993 and deliver the health care service to the people of this region. This institution is located in the middle of Jammu City. This institution was started with the aim to provide best facilities/ treatment to the patients from peripheral hospitals of Jammu Province. The institution started with nine hundred beds and with upgradation of New Emergency Block, the strength of beds is 1192.Government Medical College & its Associated Hospitals of Jammu are headed by the Administrator & Personnel Officer followed by the Worthy Principal and Dean of GMC Jammu. All the Medical Officers/ Paramedical / Nursing/ MTS/ Sanitary Workers working in this institution are headed by the Assistant Medical Superintendent & Deputy Medical Superintendent followed by the Medical Superintendent GMCH Jammu.

From The Principal's Desk

It is a matter of proud privilege for me to take over as founder Principal of Govt.Medical College . It will be my earnest endeavour to put in all my concerted efforts in overcoming all the challenges that are always there once any new medical institution is conceptualized.Teaching ,patientcare and research which are the pillars of any medical school will be my targeted focus..We have a dedicated faculty team who have joined this institution and I am confident that with their support and with the support of the consultants and the staff which was already in place in Associated District Hospital , a state of art institution will come up in this area in the shortest possible time......
